A diet derived from the apparent diet of the Paleolithic era and Paleolithic humans aka Cavemen, The basic idea to eat like the cavemen ate. To be honest i am very partial to a lot of the recipes and ideology's of the Paleo diet but i am very skeptical of its background idea. It was known fact that the humans of the Paleolithic era only lived until around the age of 30-35, they also spent most of their days hunting and foraging. They also lived in a completely different world, a more harsh style of living, fighting the elements on a daily basis. So in theory i don't see how a diet relevant to the lives of cavemen apply to our modern, comfortable and sheltered lifestyles. I also believe it is very presumptuous to assume cavemen consumed or burned the same amount of calories as we did. Cavemen in my opinion would have been burning calories most of their day meaning a completely different metabolism. We have evolved and are completely different than cavemen , we also have a life span double of our cavemen counterparts. So technically regardless if we take up the Paleo diet or not we are 100% likely to outlive cavemen. I do however encourage a diet where you eat high amounts of protein, vegetables and also cut dairy as much as possible. The Paleo diet is also anti Grain and Legumes, i however am pro healthy grain and definitely pro legumes.
I think it is a cool idea and any diet that promotes a healthy lifestyle and are anti Junk food and processed foods i give my thumbs up to. I also agree with the idea that we should be eating natural foods that are produced by the earth. I am a very open minded person and have made many Paleo recipes, But let's be fair Cavemen didnt bake Paleo Cookies out of coconut oil and almond flour.
