Do your protein shakes bring the boys to the yard ??

So what is your opinion on Sports nutrition products, vitamins and minerals. Do you think they are a waste of time, Can you not live without them or are they alien products to you.

Its a topic that really intrigues me and is going to be a current on Bikinibrawn. With the topic up for discussion on Twitter, facebook and also here on Bikinibrawn, i am curious to see what the overall opinions are.
Here is what people have been saying so far :

Art Director Dillon St Paul from Stellar magazine says
''I take loads of vitamins Etc but often I think there's too much available. But I have a few staple ones. As for Protein supplements I often get turned off by the amount of sugar/ maltodextrin in them. Sure you need fast carbs and protein combo especially right after the gym but I'd rather eat a protein bar that taste less like a Mars bar! Ie healthier!''

Irish DJ John Gibbons on Nutrition Products
''I Take none. Almost without expectation they're detrimental to overall health especially when taken medium to long term''

Hannah Reidy/Clontarf Dublin
''I use Raw fusion, it's plant based find it's easier to digest then whey. Pre workout optimum nutrition is great stuff but unfortuanlty contains dairy and soya and i try to avoid both''

Chris Maher works at MC Bodytec Nass
''I find a lot of people girls especially don't like to take protein shakes because they think it will somehow make them ''massive'' their is a big stigma around supplements in this country''
''I find with vitamins people just don't know which ones do what''

David Byrne Studying Health and fitness in Inchicore college says
''I think peoples main reason for not using any of these supplements is lack of knowledge! People are much more open to the idea of eating processed foods or junk food but dont know that these things are doing far worse damage to their body. People tend to shy away from them as they are in powder form, the two brands i would use mostlye is Optimum Nutrition or Kinetica ''

Jennifer Lyons a personal trainer with a degree in sports science
'' People don't take them because they are unsure of the benefits, afraid of side effects, bulk etc which is compleltely inccorect''

Roisin Readmond 23 From Dublin
''I dont know what to buy''

Ciaran Duffy from Monoghan
'It's too expensive''

@GymBunnytweets says
'' I take Multivitamins  B complex, Fish oils, probiotics and then magnesium at night i also take a protein shake and preworkout ''

What is your opinion on Nutrition products. What is your fav brands and vitamins ?

The Boxer Braid

I came across this stunning hairstyle on The Beauty department and thought it would be a nice feature on BikiniBrawn. I truly believe style and effort should continue into your fit life and with this hairstyle i think you will achieve both. Its called the Boxer braid, and is a very easy style to achieve. If hair is something you struggle with pop into your local salon for a quick braid makeover. I have included some photos of some Boxer braid variations, all of which are absolutely stunning and will no doubt impress anyone in the gym. The boxer braid Featured in the 2012 beauty campaign shot by Fashion and beauty photographer Lachlan Bailey for Vogue Paris. I think we can all agree if the boxer braid is good enough for french vogue then it is definitely good enough for us

Start moving the ice

Check out the visual lookbook for Bershka's start moving the ice campaign

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t23kgL3X2R4&list=HL1383392391

Fitness has not only infected our lifestyles our computers and social media pages but it has now also leaked into our favourite affordable stores! After the launch of their first sports wear collection in march, Spanish retailer BERSHKA have gone on to launch their third active wear range. The video says it all, its stylish, easy to move in, weather appropriate, but it left out one main factor out affordability. The Range has been available from the Dublin chain in Jervis street shopping center for the last two weeks and is set to see more of the range arriving in the next couple of days.

''Winter is around the corner and we are ready to rock it the fashionable way. Bershka's new Start Moving collection is dedicated to sport activities consisting of functional and technical pieces with colorful designs. Let it snow!" BERSHKA

I think the Lookbook is very appropriate. It portrays strength and determination even in cold climates. In my opinion its exactly what a sports campaign should look like . Every single item in this range is both stylish and wearable . What do you think ??

The King of Meals

I mean it when i say breakfast is the King of meals.
The name meaning to break the fast , starting your day with a healthy nutritious meal wakes up your metabolism, so you are burning calories as early as possible. There is a big misconception that missing meals will make you slim but by missing Breakfast you are indeed slowing your metabolism way down. It has been proven in Many studies that those who skip breakfast are bigger in size than there counterparts that eat a healthy breakfast early in the morning. Choosing to eat a healthy breakfast also determines your diet for the remainder of the day , by skipping breakfast you are more inclined to make bad diet choices for your lunch your break and your dinner. Another important thing to be aware of  is your breakfast selection and to be responsible for what you are eating. The majority of Cereals, cereal bars , bread , brown bread are full of processed chemicals and also PACKED full of sugar. That include smoothies and juices that are pre packed . Think greens, fresh, Protein and Home made. Here is some visual inspiration for breakfast.

Protein Pancakes :

                                                     Baked Egg and Avocado :

                                                  Dippy egg with Asparagus :

Omelette pick your favourite toppings :

Smoked salmon , Broccoli , scrabbled eggs and a small sprinkle of feta cheese.

Porridge / Oatmeal variety of toppings

Its all about the Squat ......... Not !! Add mass to that ASSSSS

There has been a lot of talk lately about the Squat giving you the perfect Derriere. When in fact people are being fed a little lie and are not doing their research. The squat hype has not only been labelled as the most important and coolest exercises but has also promised again to give the perfect Bum . Unfortunately my friends squatting alone will not give you buns of steel, infact it might improve your quads first . Compound exercises like Deadlifts and Squats have there benefits but wont get you that perfect booty ? So how do i add mass to my Ass , Its time to isolate ! The glutes are the biggest muscle in the body so its important to keep that in mind , they are usually everyone's weak point so why train them the same amount of times as any other muscle group. I train Glutes twice a weak and have only started so i am keen to see my booty progress ;

Here is my add mass to that ass workout :
Try a combination of these exercises twice a week

- Barbell Hip Thrust

- One legged Cable Kick back

- Rear-Foot Elevated Leaning Squats

- Cable Donkey Kickbacks

- Walking Lunges

- Hip Extensions ( On Machine )

- Deep squat with heels raised

What is your favourite glute exercise leave a comment below ???
